Default Replacement Headrests?

Ok guys, on my 2010 and now my 2012 Dodge Ram 1500s... my wife's biggest gripe... The headrests suck! They point forward and hit her in just such a way that it makes her neck very uncomfortable. I don't love them either...

She is fairly short, so it's like they hit her in the worst possible spot, and I am 6'5" and don't notice it all the time but it's sure not a highlight of the truck...

Anyone replace their headrests with anything more comfortable?

the problem you'll run into is that the posts are very close together on these. my aftermarket dvd headrests didn't really fit on the narrowest setting so I just kind made it fit. I'm hoping that I didn't bend anything too badly so I can throw my dodge ones back on at trade in.

I agree te head rests are too far forward. I've been thinking about talking to an upholstery shop

I turned mine around backwards. My wife puts her hair up when she rides with me creating a bun in the back. She had to lean forward making it very uncomfortable for her. The reason they lean forward is to contact the back of the head as soon as possible in a collision and also to prevent the neck from snapping backwards. Pointing backwards they aren't doing a very good job of that, but I figured something is better than nothing. I miss my 2000 seats integrated headrests. If you find an alternative keep us posted. I doubt Ram or almost anyone "makes" an alternative because of regs and liability. I also doubt you can bend the posts straight without compromising their strength. We could get lucky and they make an alternative for handicapped accessability. I'll have a look see.

I changed mine backwards also, it was pushing my head forward and down, I couldn't stand it. So if my air bag goes off I guess it will get me under the chin

I've tried them backwards, but then there isn't the support and you worry about safety... I really want a neutral headrest... Wonder if any of the headrests from the other dodge/jeep/chrystler products fit?

I pulled mine off and put the posts in a vise one at a time and pulled down to bend them back about an inch, put them back on the seat and celebrated the amazing differance. They are perfect now. I made the bends in the part that is hidden inside the headrest so you dont see any visible bends in the post, they still go up and down in the seat as they should and best part is that its a free mod.

That sounds great, maybe I can grab a pair from scrap to test it on! Thanks!

Sounds good ramfan! I was also wondering (haven't checked) if the rear headrest would fit since they are straight? Was gonna yank them anyways cause they make looking back hard.

As part of a mod to install factory headrest dvd's I had to change the width of the new ones. I took them apart, and took the metal frame to a welding shop who cut them off and welded them back on in the proper position. Worked great, and looks factory. They were from a 2010 Town and Country. Got a great deal on brand new factory headrest dvd players (180$)... coulndn't pass it up
