We will no matter what. Our long term goal is to have it fully restored, to museum quality, by the time our girls are ready to wed. Their dad will drive them away dressed in the era apparell. One is 12 and one is 8 so hopefully we have some time!

Wow paris, that is an amazing classic. I would love to have a 30s era town car and hit all the classic shows with it.

That's partially what the Ram is for! We had, at one time, 66' Dodge Coronet 440, 1930 Chevy, a custom show chopper and other toys.
What will getcha' is this....it was $655 brand new in January 1930! It's a stove bolt 6 cylinder. It's max horsepower is 50! 3 gears + reverse. And a button for a gas pedal. I will write a thread about it. Great story. 12 offers and we got it....but money wasn't the factor. Great great story. (Sorry for the jack Hemi....it was SOMEONES first car, right?)

That looks like quite the rig, Paris, and a wonderful plan for the future! Good luck with all of it!

for the record there is nothing wrong with being born in 1972!

My first car was a 1979 Mercury Capri (the fake Mustang) with a big ole 2.8L V6. They were proud of that lil bitty V6, as they had a fender badge for it, although everyone who couldn't read thought it said "5.0" so they wanted to race. It had a hard time getting out of it's own way going downhill, but it was mine and I loved it, until I blew out the timing gears.... sold it for about $500 and drove Dad's Jeep around for about a year or so. Then my parents bought me a '79 Malibu when I graduated HS (wish I still had that rocket!)

This isn't a pic of my car, but it's one like it
'79-'82_Mercury_Capri.jpg

Sadly no pics of the 'Bu... it started off life as a 2 door, V6 (200cu), with a 3sp manual on the floor, and power brakes. When I sold it (yup I know it was stupid), it had a 350cu V8, that was stroked out to only God knows what, pushing 476HP at the rear wheels, with a Munci M21 4sp, custom interior, and got about 6 gallons to the mile. Had a friend who was big into drag racing tell me that it would've done low 12s to high 11s if I had brought it to the track. Damn I miss that car.

I had a '79 Camaro that pushed 475 horses and ran 12.35 at Thunder Valley. Considering the altitude here, that was a pretty good time and I'm sure your Malibu would have at least equaled that elapsed time.
