Default glasspacks

well i guess im like alot of the teen guys in america and love a loud truck.i put a high flow cat and glasspacks on my truck but its just not loud enough for me.i want them straight, but i want them to pass inspection...i was just wondering if anyone knows if the water in glasspack thing works?what i mean is when u get home from driving for a long time you put a water hose up hte pipe and spray inside the glasspacks...that is supposed to break apart the honeycomb stuff in them.i have tried it and the truck does getlouder but it seems like once all the water has evaporated out of the pipes it quiets down right back to where it was.does anyone have any suggestions on that?

You should try a different muffler if you are not happy with how loud it is. I run a magnaflow but my truck is not obnoxiously loud. You can try a flowmaster 10 or 40. Those are loud mufflers (they resonate) but don't offer the straight through perfomance of a glass pack or maganaflow muffler.

If you want it loud gut an old cat if you can and flip youre glasspacks, Im pretty sure or at least from what Ive heard they have a louvered design to pull the exhuast through the glass? Thus flipping them it is more like a straight pipe and louder as well and you will still have the muffler on there for the police and what not. I have even heard of flipping them eventually blowing all the packing out of the muffler as well. Thus you would have what is basically straight pipes on youre truck, hope this helps you out some.

What I have considered is cutting the glasspacks out and putting a pipe thru the glasspack thenselves and welding them back up.the problem is I will have to pay to have them welded back up.I was hoping for a free way to make them straight.I think ima just have to cut em out if this water method don't work haha

If you want it to be louder why not just cut youre cat out that'll make it louder? Also how were you doing the water in the glasspack trick? So far Ive read that you drive till it really heats up throw a hose and some water in it and rev the crap out of the engine and it'll blow chunks of fiberglass out? Ive even read you have to hit the glasspack with a hammer to knock the fiberglass loose or even some people claim they put motor oil in them to clear the fiberglass out?

well whatvi have done is when i get home from riding i throw a water hose up there on both sides for a few seconds and let it get right much water in the glass packs and let it sit for a second then rev it...ive even tried to drive down the road wide open afterwards.ill drive about 2 miles (one each way) and when i get home its back quiet again.now right after i do it when i leave the house it sounds great.i can hear the pipes echoing off mailboxes.haha.but by the time i get home its quiet again.im not sure if maybe im doing something wrong?ive evn tried doing it while the truck was running but it had the same outcome.

i have heard of flipping them around, but if im going to do that i will probably just run a pipe thru the middle of them.same for putting oil in them, because its about the same amount of work seeing as you have to cut them out and reweld them to do it.

Get an E-Cutout (or 2 if you want). That way you can make it loud whenever you want and when inspection and emissions comes, you'll pass.

A user on this forum (amermuscle) did this video of his 5.9. I think it's pretty sweet. Maybe he will have some input for ya.

Also look into some headers man.
