Default driver side mirror shakes

I just replaced my drivers side mirror. the side by side power function stopped working. motor was turning but no movement. Initially it was no big deal, I would adjust it and go on my way, well it turns out that when I would hit a bump it would move back to were I can't see.

So I bought on off ebay switched it power everything works great but now it vibrates and shakes the whole time I'm driving (just the mirror not the housing).

Is this something common? Is the mirror just crap or did I leave something out?

I hope you went with an OEM piece. When you reinstalled the mirror onto the motor you gotta make sure that it's seated well into the housing. It makes a positive click, and make sure that the little metal "L" shaped piece is right side up, because that is to keep the mirror from shaking from the wind turbulence and vibration from the road.

this is the ad http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-...Q5fAccessories

seller is sending a rma slip and will issue a refund.

I don't recall hearing a click but I did check to see if the plug was snapped into place. I'm about to open it up again and double check.

just re-read. I bought a complete housing, but I'll double check the mirror is flush.

I may try to put the old mirror in the new working motor. any write ups on replacing the mirror only?

This is a great example of why you shouldn't use cheap parts. Even a salvage piece would have been better.

x2

I ended up fixing the old mirror and put that back on. motor moves the mirror in all directions, a little noisy but it works for now.

I just couldn't bring myself to pay the dealer $230 for the part. I'm need to find a good source to buy quality parts for cheap.

Did the same thing on a 99 Durango I owned. Ended up keeping old housing and buying a new mirror. Finally got the shakes out! Then sold it :-)
