Default 06 Ram Tow Question

Tihs will make you laugh, but what all do I need to tow?

I know a trailer! but seriously.

I bought a motorcycle enclosed trailer for my bike, but from what I can remmember, my truck had the tow capability, but it was a black sqaure. I need to buy that ball thing I guess that goes into my truck where the trailer hooks onto.

I know its funny but what all Do I need to get.

You probably have a Class III receiver hitch with a 7-pin plug in. A lot of the trucks also have a "Flat Four" plug in the harness behind the bumper.

You just need the receiver bar and a ball. You do need to know what size ball the trailer requires. Most light trailers either take a 1-7/8" or a 2" ball. There's some nice combo units out there.

Believe it or not, check out Uhaul.com...they have everything you need.

Just looked at the pix of your truck in the gallery, and it looks to me like you have the factory trailer tow package, which means you should have the factory 7 pin socket to the left of the license plate.

If that's the case you will likely need -
1) Ball mount (square thing to slide into square hole under bumper)
*** Make sure it's the right 'drop' to match your trailer ***
2) Ball to go with ball mount (size determined by trailer coupler)
3) Electric brake controller (order it with the harness for your truck...then super easy installation)

If you have an RV shop near by, they can be a great resource for these items, and can help you get the right ones. When it comes to trailer towing, it is worth it to do it right, then you can focus on enjoying the toys you are hauling.

Well, I can't add anything that hasn't already been said except drive safely and remember, your trailer won't turn the same as your truck.
