Default Optima Battery

Hey Guys!

I have just received my Optima Yellow top battery yesterday. I have to say they are very good batteries!!

Since I have a sound system, HIDs, lightbar and all the other electronics I need the power. After I installed my fog HIDs with the 50w ballast my power could not keep up. I could not have my stereo up when I was stopped at a light or else my voltmeter would read lower than 14v. After 14v is when stuff starts to dim, and also my HIDs would not get enough power and flash on and off. I have my headlight HIDs on a relay harness so they are running straight off the battery.

With the Optima I can have the system full blast at a stop and nothing happens! The volts stay around 15, when I a driving the volts read 15.5. The battery really holds its power I am very impressed with it! I would suggest anyone that has a lot of electronics to get a Yellow top!!!!

The Dodge Ram is a Optima Yellow Top D34/78

Great to know the number, I was planning on ordering one from my local speed shop as part of my tune up I want one that will last a while sitting in the cold as the one I have had some trouble with that this winter.

Hey scat do you have a capacitor???? cause im rockin 2 1000 watt amps soon and i figure a yellow top should be good enough. I keep getting told by crutchfield and ppl to do the big 3 (battery, alternator, and capacitor i think) but my mechanic buddy seems to think the stock battery will be fine. I will proly upgrade to a yellow top just so my lights dont dim.

I do have a cap for my system, if I did not then I probably would stall the truck at a red light haha. I would suggest getting a cap for anyone with a sound system really, especially with 2 1000w amps haha. I would suggest getting a Yellow Top as well since you probably will have some lights dim on you. If you get a cap it wont be that bad but having extra power never hurts!!

Great purchase ScatPak07!...I love the yellow tops. I have a red top under the hood and a kinetik power cell to help power the system and any add ons I do.

To the guy with the two 1000 watt amps. If your talking a true 2000 watts rms of power yes you should do the big three and also get a power cell...I know I push power cells alot. Personally I dont like caps. They have a purpose but are only designed for a short spike of high voltage draw then they have to charge back up again. Ive had a cap before and the difference between having a cap and a powercell is HUGE!(especially if you have a large sound system). Just for example on two recent weekends; me and some friends have had a few bon-fires and a few drinks to say the least. Well my truck was the music for 3 hours straight each night. I never had to turn the truck on or worry about the truck not starting. Trust me a powercell is worth every dollar. Another example...We recently did an install on a suv...and somehow forgot to put the fuse back in the holder(were talking the main line from the battery to the power cell which then goes to the amps). Well the guy bumped the system for 2 weeks before he came back saying his lights were starting to dim when the doors were open. Let me see a cap power a system for that long! Haha ok ill stop rambling. I just love my car audio!

I purchased a Red top in 2002 for a 800w amp with 2 10" subs, I just moved the battery over to my new/used Ram.....best investment so far.
