Default Dumb question

Hi there folks, long time no post (at least in this section).

I've got the Alpine 500W set up in my truck. I've got the RES head unit, but I've been considering upgrading (haven't decided to what yet).

Here's my dumb question. Does the Alpine set up have the same issues that the Infinity set up had? Do you need to by pass the amps in all of the speakers separately? or will everything work just fine by hooking the new head unit up using a harness?

I'm trying to be cheap here, I want u-Connect, but it's a bit steep price wise, and I can get a BT equipped head unit for about half the cost (and install it myself), but if I've got to go through the trouble of by-passing amps/ adding new ones, then I'm pretty much shooting myself in the foot, and would almost be breaking even by just getting the u-Connect.

Thanks

Exco

Exco, I'm sorry but I have no idea. I am going from stock to a Kicker MOPAR accessory system with the REC/NAV head unit in mine. As such, it's plug and play with no amp issues (I am going with a Kicker amp as well) so I have it easy.

You could always try the new head unit. You will need some adapter to make it work with the stock harness.

I know it's hard to make a decision when you aren't sure it will work or not. Been there, done that myself!
