Default Newbie question - looking at an 04

Sorry for the newbie question - I currently have an 01 F250 and am considering purchasing an 04 Ram w/ the 5.7.

Anything I need to know about these trucks? Any issues that this generation had? I've heard of transmission issues with certain year Rams.

Those issues were with BR/BE bodied Rams with the 46/47RE transmissions. The '04 you're considering has the 545RFE which is considerably better and much more durable.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Its got 55K, 4WD, SLT, 20s, leather, remote start, heated seats, and is $14,500. Its a friend of mine selling it.

I originally wanted another diesel, but they simply cost too much. I was looking at Tundras and then my friend mentioned he was selling this - thought I'd at least take a look at it.

I'm a little concerned about going to the smaller truck and and a gas engine, but I'm not shelling out $20K for a diesel w/ 100K on it. I'm going to hook up my trailer to it tonight to see how it tows. Its a 16 X 7 enclosed that I haul a few race bikes in, so I can't imagine it will be an issue.

Any other issues these trucks had that I should know about?

welcome to the forum. i just happen to have an 04 ram with the 5.7L. i have had zero problems with it (knock on wood since i said that). only surface mods done to it, nothing performance wise and itll take down a stang like a lame horse and give those ricers a thing or two to ponder as they are several lights behind me.
