Question Mopar 4" lift questions

Hey guys I am going to be getting a 2010 Ram 1500 4x4 next week, I ordered the Mopar 4" Lift kit in advance and I had a couple questions and was hoping you guys could help me out.

Could I put 37x12.5 tires on the stock 20 rims with the Mopar 4" lift?
if so would I need any additional parts?

Does anyone know if the lift kit brings the Bilstein 5100 shocks?

I have the stock 3.55 ratio would I need to change it to something like a 3.92 or would the 3.55 be ok?

I narrowed it down to the BFG A/T KO tires, opinions?

Also I know the 35" BFG's are 305/55/R20 but i cant figure out the size for the 37"?

Thanks in advance!

This is directly from the Mopar literature for the 4" kit.

OEM Wheel and Tire Recommendations:
Wheel Diameter: Use Only 20" Factory Wheels
Tire Diameter: 35" to 37"
Tire Width: No greater than 12.5"
Wheel Back Spacing: 5.5" maximum

Aftermarket Wheel Diameter:
Wheel Diameter: No less than 18"
Tire Diameter: 35" to 37"
Tire Width: No greater than 12.5"
Wheel Width: 9"
Wheel Back Spacing: 5" maximum for 18" diameter wheels

I don't think you'll get Bilsteins in this kit - but I can't confirm. This price tells me it likely does not come with them. I think you'll find it's identical to the Superlift K114 kit.

With the mopar kit I don't think you get the bilsteins. It reuses the stock setup. You can upgrade to them, that is an option if you buy the superlift kit.
So when you say the 35 inch BFG is 305/55/20 what do you mean? How does it differ from the real 305/55/20 then? I'm only asking because I'm shopping for tires right now.

Nope I called Superlift to confirm, doesn't come with the Bilsteins, and they aren't available for order yet and won't be until around July 1st they said. As far at the tire size I just didn't find BFG listing a 35x12.5x20 so a sales guy told me the size would be 305/55/20 but Im not so sure thats 35". Seems more like 33" to me.
Superlift also said that the 37" Will fit and turn fine, they have tried it on 2 trucks they tested, it just doesent have that much space on top, but if you upgrade to the bilstien shocks when they come out they will give you about another 1/2-3/4 of an inch if you place them in a higher mounting spot.

Thanks for the help guys .

305/55-r20 are 33.20 inches tall and spot on 12 inches wide. The stock 275/65-r20 tires are 34.07 inches tall and 10.82 inches wide.

I would think the stock size would be a better size. You won't float on wet roads as much and they're taller.

Netman is right. I am not sure what your sales guy was smoking telling you that tire is a 35".

It is really easy to figure out tire size with a little math.

The first number is the tire width in millimeters. So your 305/55-r20 is 305 millimeters wide.
You can convert this to inches by deviding by 25.4 (2.54 cm per inch, 10 millimeters per cm).

305 / 25.4 = 12.0" width

The second number is a ratio of the width to sidewall hieght. So the 55 means that the sidewall is 55% (or .55) of the width.

12.0 * .55 = 6.6" sidewall hieght

The last number is obviously the wheel size in inches (the 'r' just indicates it is radial, virtually all light truck tires now are radial but manufacturers still throw the 'r' in there)
So to figure the final hieght add the wheel size to the sidewall hieght (don't forget to double it unless you're measuring a tire that isn't round)

(6.6 * 2) + 20 = 33.2" total tire hieght

So for a radial measurement of a 37" x 12.50" you'd be looking for something along the lines of a 315/70-r20

yes i can say that a 305/55/20 is 33" its the size people usually jump to if they want the same diameter and just more width! Since when did the stock tire size start coming 275/65/20??? last time i checked atleast on Gen 3's the stock size was a 275/60/20 which is 33" and they were wrangler HP

I've got a Gen 4, but you're correct with the 275/60-r20 I just looked. My mistake.

A little more than 33" stock.
