Default Predator - Looking for economy tune

Just wondering what the best tune is for my 05 if I want to take a long trip.. I have used the 87 performance tune, and have tried the other 89 and 93 but don't notice a lot of difference... I have a CAI made by AEM and that's it.. Should I custom tune it myself or is using a preloaded tune my best choice?

87 would be the leanest and most fuel efficient tune.

However, if you are towing or going to be going over any steep grades, I'd go up to at least the 89 tune to avoid pre-detonation (pinging) and knocking.

I don't think you will see a huge difference between the tunes, mileage wise.

When you mentioned custom tuning it yourself, just what were you planning to do?

I feel bad.. Its been a while since I was on the site last and I noticed that there is now actually a thread for the Diablo products. I posted from my blackberry so I didn't even notice it.

As for custom tune myself... I thought there was a section in the programmer that I can go into and select tweaks? or manual changes to parimeters? Obviously I would have to know what I was doing in order to do such a thing without causing more harm than good... but I figured someone out there must know about how to do it. I don't care to spend another $200 to have my stock tune adjusted by the techs at Diablo to gain very little. I know my brother has an 04 with the same setup as myself, and he was talking to the local performance shop about a chip for economy that was made by another company other than Diablo. Anyone weigh in on this?

Nope... I was just looking at the programmer and noticed that is has modify paremeters.. and I thought that I could manage my truck better by watching what it does and customizing things myself rather than using a performance tune already on the tuner... seeings that each vehicle will be slightly different.. and that the sensors all wear over time... which cuases a "mass tune" to be less effective. I wish I could afford an exhaust... either the Borla or Magnaflow and see if that would improve it at all...

Tell that to all the Cummins guys who are trying to squeeze every mpg they can out of their trucks.

Well its a known fact for us hemi owners that the better we can let our trucks breathe, in .. and out.. the better it runs/reacts. I have also read a lot of threads pertaining to the fact that the Diablo isn't noticed until you have an intake and exhaust... So I guess I could try it on my brothers truck... or wait and see what happens when he buys a superchips...

Wasn't it Fast Willy that said he was getting some ridiculous fuel mileage on his truck like 22mpg with the 93 octane tune only??? I'm kinda clueless here.. maybe I need to ask over on then pred forums... but I like shift points of the 87 performance tune, but so far I have noticed the best mileage on the 91 octane tune... however its shifts are very harsh feeling on my truck.. I am still running an old 9r03 or 4 version on my tuner... I haven't put on the 9r07.. can anyone tell me what changes if any good ones were made at all?
