I only loosened them and the tps barely moved. I was being delicate, not to sure what happened lol. some more info would be nice
You unplugged the sensor didn't you? haha. The check engine light will go off after a few key cycles.

But, you stick the probes from the volt meter into the back of the plug (where the wires go in). You have to be pretty aggresive when pushing them in there. Also, you just loosen the bolts and twist it gently. It doesn't move much...but, every .0x of a volt will make a performance difference.

Some people even drill them out for more movement, but, I haven't been brave enough to try that yet.

I should have tested it before I messed with it to see the difference. 03 1500 5.9 120,000 miles. I got .71 closed and 3.85 open.

Hey all I'm back. Okay, tried this again and I'm having no luck. The voltmeter reads 5.10 with the throttle closed, key in "on" position. I open throttle and no change in readings. I loosened the torxs and tried moving the TPS and get 0.00? I read the chilton's and it says if you get an inaccurate read (normal being 0.5-1.5 throttle closed, 3.5-4.5 wide open) replace the sensor. Here's my next question, if the tps is faulty and needs to be replaced shouldn't I be getting a check engine light on the dash? Any ideas?

If you're getting a reading, then, no, it won't throw a check engine light. The only time it will throw a check engine light is if it does nothing.

Also...I think you must have the wrong wires, because, it wouldn't run if that was the case, it would be full rich at idle.

Try switching the wires that your testing in the plug.

I did it & loved it! It was an easy checkup / adjustment and I really appreciate the tip. I would never have thought to look at that. A little trick I used to make it easier was to unfold a paperclip and use it to stick into the wire connections and then use my alligator clip attachments for my volt meter to hook to the paper clips. I was able to adjust the TPS from .6 to .74 in the closed position!
