Default Am I stupid or just dreaming too big for myself?

I have A LOT of what I feel are great ideas for my Ram. There is just one major hold-up on most if not all of my ideas. I do NOT know how to do any of it. I do not know anything about bodywork. Is there anyone out there that can possibly give me some insights on my ideas and how hard they would be for me to do?

There are a lot of knowledgable members here. Just start by posting some ideas and those with that experience usually chime in. Don't be timid, just patient. Sometimes it can take a bit to get a proper response. But I don't think there is one person on here not willing to help.

Sorry, I forgot to post the idea...

I want to remove my front clip( Hood, fenders, bumper and light assembly), and replace it with a front clip from a 56' dodge truck. I am including a pic of a 56' Dodge.

wow, that is one h$ll of an idea. no you are not stupid because everybody starts somewhere. that is a great dream you have there and why not dream big?! i see that you have a '96. those models have very short (meaning height wise) front end. that '56 has a very tall front clip compared to yours. you would need a lot of sheet metal work to establish the round head lights and blend into the rest of the body.

good luck with your idea and i hope someone else might be able to help you out more than myself.

I'd begin with sketch drawings so you can take them to a body guy and get an idea of how difficult/expensive your ideas will be. Then you can prioritize based on that.

I really like the idea. There is a market for kits that take things from new to Old look but new parts. For instance last 5 car shows I've been to I have seen 96 or so Camaros that have front and tail kit that makes it look like a short 57 chevy...so you're not stupid, just going to have to invest some $ and time to figure it all out. Best place to start would be to find a front end like you want and get all of the measurements (height, width, length, etc). That way you have a better idea of what you will need to add or subtract from the "new" front end to get a fit.

Keep playing things out in your mind and as mentioned before try to stat putting some sketches together.

A good friend of mine works for a body shop, but he will not help me with it except for telling me anything I want to do to my truck. Is a waste of time because its a Dodge and not a Chevy. SO I am out to do this on my own.

I am hoping to meet someone who knows about this kind of stuff, so maybe they can show me pointers and tips along the way. I already know its going to be expensive, due to not being able to find the parts I need in the state of Ohio... I do not know what I am doing, so there will be mistakes.. and with my luck they will end up being costly mistakes..
