Default Inexpensive performance upgrades?

Hey everyone,

I would like to know if anyone has any tips, info, suggestions or anything about some cheap and inexpensive performance upgrades? I am on a fixed income and can't afford a lot of money at a time.. (which is real embarrassing, due to being disabled). I LOVE my Ram a lot, it just needs some help with some performance.

I have ram-air, replacing the tranny soon because it slips, thinking about replacing the read-end gears(though I dont even know what gears I have now nor do I know what gears would be better.) I would love to have locking posi or posi period for that matter.

So any tips, suggestions, info will be greatly appreciated!

P.S. If you have links could you please post them?

Stoner

Really there is not cheap performance mods to get. If you want to go with some headers there are some good prices out there, take a look at Pacestter. They have long tube headers for around $250 which is not bad at all. The only thing is that they are painted, so you would have to be careful of them rotting. If you go with a muffler instead of a full exhaust you can get away with buying a whole kit. I would custom make an exhaust instead of buying one. That will save you some money.

If you mean you have a cold air intake when you say ram air then I dont have to tell you about that. I was going to say that a few members have made their own CAIs.

A tuner would be a good idea but they are pretty pricey. If you go to a junk yard you can pick up an electric fan out of a Taurus and use it in your truck. It will give you some power and pick up. Also getting a 180 degree thermostat will help as well.

I can not really think of anything else maybe some other members will have some tips.

Actually one member on here posted about changing the throttel position under the hood. Try and find that it was recent, a couple days ago.

You could smooth/bore out your throttle body, get a little better flow for the intake. You could also modify the kegger intake. I have a write up on that, just pm your email to me.

I have a hood similar to this. The air goes straight into the air filter box. So I do not know if that is a form of CAI or not.

Your talking rear end gears? Because I have to get a tranny soon, I was thinking about rebuilding mine and putting in different gears if I can. *Mental note: Check into that.*

yes i was talking bout gears for the rear end.

i don't know really how to check on what gears you have sorry,

from what you said bout your hood it sounds to be that you have a ram air hood already so pretty much you won't need the cold air intake,

i guess you could look for a used unlocked tuner, they are cheaper, some people look down on used stuff, but sometime you can find really good deal.
if you look for a used tuner make sure its not married or locked to the truck. make sure they tell you its UNLOCKED, i know there is a used one in the f/s section right now for $280 i believe most of the time brand new is for over 350, also make sure its for your truck also.
