Default 2008 ram big horn 5.7L hemi exhaust...

Alright so here is my question. I drive a 08 dodge ram 5.7 L. I want a deep low loud sound from my truck. I'm not a engine exhaust man more of electrical work is my expertise. The exhaust guy said i have to put a certain muffler or my check engine light comes on.... A few people have told me this. Is this true. I thought that my sensors are before that and that id have to take my cats of for that to happen. IDK tho, I was thinking cherry bomb, dual the truck or glass pack. That was the cheap route but if i want to spend money then a 50 series. Please help me. Im so confused. I am deployed now and want to do it when i get back in August. Thanks in advance for the help!

Aaron

I have a Magnaflow cat back exhaust, no check engine light.

I imagine if you tamper with the 02 sensors, your check engine light will come on. However your check engine light shouldn't come simply by installing a muffler system.

Default OEM rear duals

Greetings

Being a die hard OEM guy, I installed the Mopar rear exit duals. ( Well it's not a real dual exhaust as it does enter a single CAT'verter ) Sounds nice, quite a rumble when you put your foot into it. It does sound a tad anemic when the MDS is engaged. Cost $ 1,260 Cdn MSLP materials only. 2 hour R & R install. You should be able to buy it for about
$ 875 Cdn.

Regards

I installed the Gibson cat back exhaust on my 07 Ram. I do not know who told you installing a cat back exhaust will throw codes is incorrect. I think 90% of the members on here have exhausts or mufflers and noone has had a problem.

I like the Gibson kit it has a nice deep rumble. I would recommend it if you like the deeper sounding exhaust

Flowmaster 40 series, custom duals, no check engine light. i have built 4 systems for newer rams and no check engine lights ever. the only trucks i have had that happen too are mid to late 90's chevy's, throws an EGR code due to lack of backpressure. just dont use a 3" intermidiate pipe on those trucks and problem solved. No problems with Rams.

As long as you dont remove your catalytic converters and your new piping after the cat has the o2 sensor installed, you wont throw a code.

If you remove the o2 sensor or remove the cats, itll throw a code. Mufflers/resonators have nothing to do w/ the o2 sensor.

I have Magnaflow on my truck and I like the deeper mellow sound of that brand.

If you leave your catalytic converters and O2 sensors alone, you should not throw any codes.
