Default how to make magnaflow cat back sound better/louder

I have an 04 Ram 1500 4x4 4.7L 5mt and I put on a magnaflow cat back dual rear exit exhaust with my 2 buddies. I ordered it from real truck. Would it be louder if I took the tips off? or maybe if I pulled the tips back in a bit? I want to make it louder. It's kinda loud but it's really not too loud. How would I be able to make it louder on a tight budget? I was kinda hoping I could do something to it. The exhaust is a little bit bassy so I figure that the tips will make it shorter and that might make it more treble(y)(er). Any suggestions? And also, I'm looking to improve gas mileage, would it be worth it for me to get headers? Because I know that it'll make the exhaust sound better and help truck perform much better. But they're expensive. Is there any cheaper good headers anyone knows of? If I got headers and cams would it kill my low end torque? someone said that it might

I am running a stock exhaust on my 4.7 with a straight pipe instead of a muffler and it sounds awsome. Don't know if u wanna hack up a nice exhaust though

Well as far as making the exhaust louder you could always add an E-cutout. Or you could do what you were suggesting by adding headers.

How long is the muffler on your kit? I have a 14" Magnaflow going to dual tips in the back, and it is pretty loud. Has a nice balance of low/treble tones.

That's the first I've ever heard of a Magnaflow Dual not being loud enough. I've done several things to mine to make it quieter, and have heard others doing the same. I do have an aftermarket Cat Converter. I wonder if the stock one is quieter. I bet a high flow converter would increase volume a bit.

I'm actually thinking of going to an 18" Magnaflow to ease the sound a bit.

Default Loud

Went with a 40 series flowmaster on mine. I love to set off car alarms in parking lots.
