Update: I got my new tail lights!!!

But its not without its own set of problems. As expected I would have to splice an 02-05 harness with my 08 stock wiring, problem being they forgot to include the harness mounting plate and bulbs that were supposedly "included for a plug and play application". Im withholding the name of the website right now because we are currently working on a solution. So this post could turn into a review on customer support also.

Ok here are some of my main findings so far if anyone else is interested in going from an 06-08 style tail light to 02-05 3 bulb style...

1) As mentioned, the wiring harnesses are different, you will need to splice wires to go from a 2 bulb housing to 3 bulbs.

2) The 02-05 bulbs sit into a plate that mounts onto the back of the housing, NOT the twistlock directly to the housing like our 06-08s. You WILL need this plate!

3) The mounting pins on the 02-05 lights are smaller and pointed, 06-08s have the slightly larger rounded pins. You will need to either get the 02-05 sockets to replace the ones in your body or like I did, swap the mounting pins between the 2 different lights. If you choose to swap be careful, the threads are different so its a forced fit. If your worried you could heat the plastic slightly so the new threads can dig in easier but try not to twist the hole, hold it with a pliers while slowly threading in.

4) The mounting screws are longer for the 02-05 lights. They sit away from the hole in the body so a spacer may be needed too. Test fit longer screws and see if you need to rig a spacer.

I will have more pics posted of the install after I have all the parts to do it. Thinks these lights will add another 5hp on appearance alone.. haha

I like the look of those lights, can't wait to see them installed! 5hp for appearance, heck yeah, I can see that!

Ok here are some of my main findings if anyone else is interested in going from an 06-08 style tail light to 02-05 3 bulb style...

1) As mentioned, the wiring harnesses are different, you will need to splice wires to go from a 2 bulb housing to 3 bulbs. The 08 harnesses will have 2 grounds, 1 reverse, 1 parking, and 1 brake/signal wire. The 02-05 harness will have 1 ground, 1 reverse, 1 parking, and 2 brake/signal (top and middle bulb) wires.

If you choose to swap the threads are different, they fit too loose so I ended up superglueing them in place. Think replacing the mounting sockets would be the better way to go.

4) The mounting screws are longer for the 02-05 lights. They sit away from the hole in the body so a spacer may be needed too. Test fit longer screws and see if you need to rig a spacer. I have some slight body alignment issues. Its so minor I might let it go but I think a simple abs plastic shim between the body and mounting screw might do the trick.

I was going for a darker look with these lights so I chose to install standard bulbs for the top and middle bulbs. They give of a deep red color through the lenses in parking mode. I was worried brighter bulbs would make the lenses appear pink. But I did end up putting Silverstars in for reverse bulbs. Seeing through the window tint is still a bit difficult so add-on HID reverse lights might still be in the future...still considering my options!
