Default Heating up While towing

Hey Guys got a question for everyone. My truck is a 2002 1500 with a 4.7. There is a superchips programmer volant cai and flowmaster exhaust on it. Now the truck only has 46000 miles on it and I noticed that while im driving the temp is fine. But I was pulling a trailer yesterday and the truck started heating up. Once I dropped the trailer back at my house everything was fine again. Any ideas?

Yeah, you might try two or three things:

1. Flush and refill your cooling system.

2. Go with lower temp thermostat.

3. Add an electric fan.

Did your truck come with the towing package or did you add it yourself ?

That's certainly enough load to make the 4.7 work. Did it actually overheat at any point?

Doesn't sound like anything to be concerned with if it didn't overheat. I would expect it to run a bit warmer with a load like that on it. You could always add a bottle of Water Wetter to your cooling system.

Agree with MADDOG, if your coolant and thermostat has never been changed it is probably due.
