Welcome to the forum! as for your rust i would say take it to the local body shop and get them to look at it, give a quote on a fix! this would be the easiest way as long as the place u take it is reputable!

If you go to a reputable body shop, I am positive that they can fix that for you.

rust is like cancer...get it taken care of as soon as you can. Like said, get to your local body shop and see what they can do for you. I had the same problem on my 98 ram.

If you have a 2g Ram...you could either get it fixed, or, (yes, I'm the junkyard king...lol)...go to the junkyard and get another.
It would probably be a lot cheaper then getting yours fixed, you could probably find one in the same color...and four bolts later you can plop it on.

They're very easy to change. Hell, take a trip to FL and pick one up. By the time you pay a body shop to fix the rust, paint it, then you realize it won't match so you need to paint the rest of the truck, you might as well of just bought another bed.

after the repair is done, you can do a couple things
buy a can or 2 of under coating in a spray can
go to your local Line-X shop & have them spray it, if the rust isn't too bad, they can sand the area before spraying

Definitely get it looked at and repaired (usually beyond the visible area) so that it doesn't spread!

If it's a 4X4, this is a great excuse to add a set of Bushwhacker cutouts!
