Default Bully Dog GT

I know that the Bully Dog for the 08 4.7 has not been out that long but was wondering if anyone had tried it yet and what you thought?

I will be picking up a camper next week that I will be towing from NC to OH for the first time in July for Vintage days. I like the idea of extra power as well and extra MPG and pulling a camper is going to kill the MPGs I'm sure.

Good luck. I had a Bully Dog on my diesel truck a few years ago. I liked it and it worked fine.

Towing is gonna kill the mileage anyway, whether you have a programmer or not.

The extra power will come in handy but the MPG improvement won't be seen until you are empty, not towing or if you are flat towing with no significant deviation in elevation.

They can improve power and mileage but think about it for a minute...more power consumes more fuel in most cases. And when you feel the power, to improve mileage you are gonna have to back off of it a bit. The two do not necessarily go hand in hand.

What I've found is that most tuners do modestly increase HP and torque. The biggest benefit is that they bring them forward in the RPM band, making that HP and torque available at lower RPM's, making the truck feel more responsive and powerful.

I don't think you'll go wrong with the programmer. Have you towed at all with your truck and know what you get stock while towing?

Did you mount your in a gauge pod or just with the arm it comes with? I'm worried about it looking like a GPS unit and someone trying to break in to get it.

Thanks! I've recently moved it up to the top part of the windshield, and trying to get enough cable to move it over above the rear view mirror.

Would love to integrate it into the dash somehow, just not ready for that step yet.

It's here!!!!

First: Updates from computer was simple with no issues.

Second: Installing in truck...would have been simple. I had mounted my P3 brake controller right where the OBII connection was so I had to remount that. Other than that the only thing that takes any time is finding a place to run the power wire through the firewall.

Third: Setup...It took the unit about 30-40 minutes to go through the process but no problems what so ever.

Fourth: TEST DRIVE... First off let me say OMFG!!!!! Where has that off the line throttle responce been all my life. I spun my Goodyear HP's 3 times just trying to get out of my driveway. Mind you I have a gravel driveway but I had never had any issues before now.

I only went for a short drive as I didn't get to install the unit until after work and it was raining like ____ when I first got home. I will keep you posted as I learn more.

If anyone ask I set the unit for regular(low octane) gas.
