Default Factory fog light removal

Both of my fog lights on my 09 Ram have gotten water in them due to a nasty puddle where I live, be cause the Sport model is lower the lights must have got emersed, I just want to pull them out drain the water and the broken shards of bulb and then clean the inside condensation. I went under the truck and looks like the whole front bumper fascia needs to come off. Has anyone attempted the removal and is it the bumper that has to come off to remove them, and does anyone have any kind of instructions for removal of the fog lights. I could get the dealer to do it under warranty and say the seals went, but both lights got water and we had quite the storms in our city this past weekend.

Any help would be greatly appreicated.

I don't see why that wouldn't be covered under warranty. It's not like you buried it hood deep in a 'puddle' and flooded the cab or sucked a gallon in through the intake or anything! Have you called them to see what their view on the situation is?

I have just called two dealers, one has yet to call me back, the other said they have to see the lights and see if they are covered under warranty. I will bring to them on Saturday to check it out. Worst case I pull them out and dry them out myself. I just don't like the idea of having to remove the bumper just to remove the fog lights.

Doesn't seem right you'd have to remove the bumper, but I don't know 100% on the 4th gens.

Just talked with the dealer, they said it would not be covered under warranty, the seals work, but not having water constantly splashing up onto the light. He did tell me that the bumper has to come off to remove the fog light, when you go in behind the lights are encased in a housing. I know on my 06 it was one bracket and out it comes, why did they have to complicate the heck out of fog light removal on the 09s.

Oh well, I got myself a project for the weekend.

If anyone knows where I can find a diagram on how the bumper can be removed, I would be greatly appreciated.

I just took the truck to the dealer last week for standing water in the fog lights. They covered it under warranty with no questions asked. Just take the truck to the dealer and say there is water in the fog lights, don't mention the "puudle" at all. Make sure that you don't have aftermarket bulbs, or HID's in the lenses.

That's crazy you need to remove the bumper. But I'd try what bighorn said and try to get them to warranty 'water in the fogs'

Take it to the dealer for 'Water in the Fog Lights'.
I doubt that you can say 100% for sure that it was caused by the puddle at your place! There are a few that have had water collect in them from normal driving in the rain....and with all the rain we've had in MB lately, it is more likely a defect in the lamps that showed up in the rainy weather, then the result of a puddle...unless that puddle has a name....like 'Red River'!

I live in Louisana and I have had the dealership change both of them on three different occasions. Thats just driving on the highway back and fourth to work.
