It's the other way around actually. Long tubes boost the low end and a bit into the midrange when comparing the same primary tube diameters. Shorties are better up top.

Longtubes are also better for cams w/ more overlap to protect against reversion back into the exhaust port and combustion chamber.

Seems like the budget hot ticket for the '09/'10s might be the SRT8 manifolds. Haven't heard confirmation if they clear/fit yet though.
