I've seen one person go so far as to install an aftermarket fin type cooler, a small fan behind it and wire it so the fan would come on at a preselected temp.

Original tranny lasted 168,000 before it started to slip. Second rebuilt lasted 43,000 and it sounded like it was ready to fall apart from the inside out. This one that is going in this week, I'm going all out (pro-acted) on keeping this one cool since it will be new, not rebuilt.

I been very good about changing fluid every 50,000 and taken it out of od when hauling my boat around. like the idea of a temp gauge. Will but that in the mix.

113k on mine, no major problems yet... knock on wood. I've been tinkin on getting a trans temp gauge, and with you all talkin about it makes me think a bit more about goin to get one
