Just a thought, as this is what I do with bigger diameter things that won't come off nicely. Take a belt and wrap it around the pipe you want to come off and use it as a giant "wrench". It's kind of like that rubber pickle jar opener only bigger. Hope you find a solution soon. HOWEVER, if you get a chance in take a short video of your open headers I would LOVE to hear how they sound. Good luck!

I had a hell of a time removing mine as well as the U-bolt they used had actually folded the downstream pipe into the upstream. I had to get my sawzall out and cut into the downstream pipe to loosen the tension then it pulled out no problem.

So they sent me a 5.9L Diesel exhaust. Not to shabby looking so I thought. I'm only 70 minutes from Summit in Ohio. I got there get the parts I need to make it work and I'm just having trouble... it should work... but maybe I'm just too tired. I'm thinking about calling it quits... Anyone know of a place near pittsburgh that has an aftermarket exhaust?

Update... I called it quits. Put an extension of Pipe I had on going just past the cab. I'm sending the other POS back and just dealing with it when I get back from travel.

I was in your position a couple months ago. Trust me I spent about an hour trying to "shake" the OEM exhaust off. Before I tied a chain to it and ripped it off I grabbed the sawzall and the problem was gone!

If you are trying to save the old exhaust, I would heat the pipe up cherry red with a torch and wiggle it off. If you don't care what happens to the old exhaust, it really doesn't matter so much if you cut it whether it be with torch, sawzall, air hammer, or cut off tool, like MADDOG said. But even then, I think it is easier to just heat it up and pull it off.

i just did mine today, i have an '04 so its got a healthy amount of rust and years behind it. use the sawzall and make sure you leave enough room for the new piping to go on just dont hack it off anywhere. grab a good supply of wd-40 and lube it up and beat the clamp right off of the old pipe top to bottom or side to side, then repeat for the old left over section of pipe. it took me 20 min to get the old exhaust off by doing this. good luck!!

WOW!!!

I would never use WD-40 on anything that is going to be near any flame, that stuff is highly flammable, if you don't believe me, roll up a piece of paper TIGHTLY, clear the area of anything that will burn, now take a sprayer with WD-40 in it, light the paper double check the area & sparingly spray the burning paper with WD-40

I have used this method for getting rodents out of automobile box frames

I'll take an air or electric grinder with a cutting blade on it & do a nice controlled cut

yeah i know its flamable, i made sure everything was high and dry before i put the new exhaust on, and if your working with a completely cold pipe I.E. not run for like 8-9 hours you wont spontaneously combust while your doing it. but common sense would tell you to clean it up and make sure not to spray it into the old pipe work
