RE: Limited Warranty Extension for ECM reprogramming in 2006 and 2007 Ram 2500/3500 trucks equipped with Cummins 5.9L engines, as well as in certain 2007 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab trucks equipped with Cummins 6.7L engines

Dear Ram Truck Owner,
At Chrysler, we are committed to providing our customers with vehicles of the highest quality. As part of our effort to ensure that our products meet your expectations, we would like to advise you of a limited extension to a specific portion of your vehicle’s (VIN noted above) Basic Limited Warranty relating to the software programming of the Engine Control Module (ECM) in your Ram diesel truck.

The problem is… It has come to Chrysler’s attention that in some limited instances the software programming of your vehicle’s ECM may fail to accurately report diagnostic system information that can result in a failure of certain state-mandated inspection and maintenance (I/M) emission tests.

What your dealer will do… the owners of covered vehicles will have the opportunity to have their ECM reprogrammed to address this potential issue at no cost.
If you need help… If you have any questions or concerns that your dealer is unable toresolve, please contact Chrysler at 1-866-726-4636.

The limited extension of your vehicle’s Basic Limited Warranty is for the sole purpose of covering the cost of labor associated with having your vehicle’s ECM reprogrammed to address the limited issue referenced in this warranty extension. There is no time or mileage limitation on the extension. However, the extension is subject to all other terms and conditions of the Basic Limited Warranty
.
Please note that damage to the ECM as a result of anything other than defect in material, workmanship or factory preparation is not covered by the Basic Limited Warranty and is therefore not covered by this limited extension. Further, the limited extension does not provide coverage for costs associated with the repair of any other vehicle component such as federal emission components.

In the event that you have incurred costs associated with labor necessary to reprogram the ECM for this specific issue relating to your vehicle (VIN specified above), you may be eligible for reimbursement. In order to submit a claim for reimbursement, please send your original receipt and/or proof of payment to the address listed below, where your request will be processed:

Chrysler Customer Assistance Center
P.O. Box 21-8007
Auburn Hills, MI 48321-8007

Chrysler places great value on your loyalty and satisfaction with your vehicle, and as such we apologize in the event that this issue may have caused you any inconvenience
Please make sure to store this letter with your vehicle’s other warranty information in the event that future reference is necessary.

Thank you again for you loyalty,
Chrysler Group LLC

Thank you Randy. Do you foresee this occuring with my Ram? Just curious. I understand you may not have that insight available, but I was curious being that I have had a couple of issues pertaining to my emissions/ECM.

Thank you again. I saw that this only applies to the 07's, I was just wondering if eventually it would apply to the 08' since it is the similar issues. Screw it....I am going to get a 10!

I believe it only applies to those years because of the software used during production.
