Default Exhaust Question

I have the dual exit exhaust from the factory and just want to replace the muffler only. I want to keep the resonators in place and just need to know if just the muffler is replaced if that could be done in my driveway. Also, do I need to mess with the two tips cause they're perfectly aligned. What have you guys used and what were the results. I have two kids, one of which likes to go wheeeeeee alot, so a great sound at takeoff is a must with reasonable sound at cruising speeds.

Yeah, you can do mufflers only. If you match the pipe size, yer good.

You can clamp them but eventually, you'll want to weld the pipe joints.

I like the Magnaflow sound. Nice at idle and cruising, roars at WOT. It won't drive you out of the cab when yer just cruising.

I bought the mufflex because I just wanted to do my own pipes. I believe it is a MagnaFlow as MADDOG suggested. Relative easy change in my garage; that is unless you are under the muffler and let it slip and chip a tooth like I did. AH the joys of mods.

Can anyone attest to the 14" sound, I know for sure I'd go with the 18" but sometimes I'm disappointed with being too conservative. I want to know how the 14 sounds at regular driving around town. I need it to be reasonable if I'm not getting on it hard but want it to really open up when I want to hear it go.

I listened to numerous sound tracks and decided to go with the 14. I would personally recommend nothing else. It sounds good but is certainly not that loud.

I am curious about the 14" vs 18" myself. Would love to go with the 14, but I am thinking the 18 would be better for a regular cab truck.
