Default power loss problems, and other questions

Hey guys Im new on here and new to rams... I have a 98 1500 with a 5.9... I put some 285-75-16 tires in the truck and it really seems to have lost alot of power... The tires may just be a coincidence... The truck seems to not have any power in the top end... Going up a low grade hill makes me lose speed, making me push into passing gear... any suggestions would be great!!

Also, I am wondering if there is a way to tighten up my throttle cable/linkage... Seems like I have to push the pedal really far for response...

Also, I have a throttle cable leading over the the drivers side front of the engine bay into a canister, can some one tell me what that is??

Thanks alot for any help you can give a new dodge owner!!

What size tires did you have before? Your throttle cable could be a bit stretched seeing that it's 12 years old. The other cable you're referring to is for the cruise control.

I will take some pics of it. I had 265/70/16's so I didnt go much bigger.... The new tires are mud grips, but I still dont think it should matter that much untill I go to 35's sometime... Do you know how to tighten the throttle cable up for better response? Also, can I tighten the shifting cable to shift sooner?

Well, going to a bigger tire will take away a little bit of gear, so to speak. The kickdown cable has an adjustment but you're pretty much stuck with replacing the throttle cable as your only option.

i like the truck looks good for every action there is a reaction so bigger tires would require more force to turn now you can just mod a little and gain that power back
