Default Terrible Gas Mileage

hey im new to this forum, just got a 2000 dodge ram 1500 quadcab 4x4 5.9l a few weeks ago, i put new plugs and wires, changed the 02 sensor and put a mangaflow performance mullfer hoping to see the smallest increase in gas mileage. Im getting a 8.5 in the city and 10.5 on the interstate on my last road trip. SOmething cant be right.......any ideas?

Man! That is tough. My mine is a 2010 and I am getting 17 around town and 20+ HW. Was on back country roads yesterday and drove the heck out of that dodge and still got 15.6.

If you have the 3.92 gears or something even lower, that sort of mileage doesn't surprise me.

I believe the rear end is stock. Not to sure what the stock gears are though on that truck.

Did you clean out the throttle body when you did the tune-up? I get about the same in town, but 15-16 on the highway with catback exhaust, tuner, and CAI. Got quite a bump on highway mileage after cleaning the TB. Not much in town, but most of my trips are less than 2 miles.
