Ive been debating now between the airaid and the vararam. i just wish someone would tell me if the quality of the vararam is still crappy or if it has gottn better. is the lid for the vararam flimsy or is it pretty strong.

no.. there is no cai better then bfi or vararam for performance...with that said, that doesn't mean that everything else is junk, on the contrary, I think Aem, Volant and the other 2 mentioned are quality cai's. Some want to do performance to certain degrees, some want to do simple upgrades and some want to go all the way...I happenned to be one that accidentally went all the way because I kept doing upgrades until before I knew it, I did them all. Now, the big risk involved in going all the way is taking reliability away..my once reliable daily driver that i made into a mean machine now sits in my driveway awaiting it's 4th tranny rebuild... I don't worry because this isn't my dd anymore..I also have another block waiting in the wings in case i blow the engine up as well

that's the thing tho..the vararam has the potential to be an excellent cai but everyone I know who has one has had to do a lil customizing to make it work..the guy I bought my vararam from also gave me the customized brackets he made up for them. some of the needed customization is due to the lid rubbing on the hood...

Go with S&B if your looking at those 2. It is in the same price range and it is actually better than both of them.

Someone has to listen to me on this for once haha! It is a wicked CAI, claims to be the best one out there (box style)! I noticed a diff with it on thats for sure!!

If you haven't sprung for one yet I'll throw my hat in and say I have the Volant and I think as far as sound and performance go it blows K&N away... How it stacks up to AEM or the others I couldn't offer an educated opinion. Good luck whichever way you go.

I believe I got it from autoanything... as far as I know volant has not come out with a down tube for the 09-up new body style.
