I just purchased a Ram 1500 and have about 300 miles on it. The a/c starts and runs then after about 2 miles it sounds like the blower will ramp down in speed then speed back up. It is not the dual climate control model. This happens in either ECO mode or normal mode and cycles down for about 1-2 seconds then blows full again. It occurs every few miles. It could be a bad contact on the air direction switch. It seems like if the switch is going from full face top vents to half face and feet. Its at the dealership right now and they said it is normal for it to do that so not to freeze the condenser???? I've had and driven many, many cars and never had this issue and wonder if they are trying to cover up a known defect. Thought I'd post this issue and will report back their findings.
Previous owned 2001 dodge dakota and 1971 dodge challenger.
well the dealer says that the ram is equipped with automatic climate, but I do not have the dual climate zone controls. Turns out that if the temperature is turned all the way to the left(blue) it enters automatic mode. To manually enter temp, it must be one click to the right. Dealer said it states that on the owner cd, so I headed home to read it again because I couldn't find it there the 1st time. Still can't find where it says that. I will continue to monitor it this weekend and post back if this is correct.
Have any of you noticed this situation?
The blower sounds to go 1/2 speed then ramp up to full speed when in this mode. It will last for about a second or two and then every few miles.
Well, I don't have the temporary ramp down in a/c blower speed anymore. It seems that when it is on Max (all the way to the left) it does it, but when it is one click to the right there is no slow down in speed. Wish the manual would have stated that and saved me a trip to the dealer.
