Default RAM Debadge pics

I've seen a lot of debadge questions and posts so here is mine. I took plenty of pictures and hopefully this will help someone. My way is far from the best, but it worked, and I made due with what I had. I did this a few weeks ago but couldn't post due to some trojan virus (btw, it took less time to debadge than figure out how to get rid of the virus)

I used fishing line, goo gone, heat gun, spray wax, clay bar, wax, and polish.

First I washed the truck, let it heat up in the sun, got some fishing line, and worked each badge off using a sawing motion.

This is what it looks like after you remove the badge. Damn..... Dodge doesnt want those badges coming off!

Why Not?????

I used my fingers and a heat gun (not needed but helps) to remove the biggest portion of the glue. An eraser wheel would be worth its weight in gold. This, I'm sure is not the best way, but it works. BTW, I got a blister on my thumb from this. This is also the longest, time consuming process. Here's a pic of after most of the glue is taken off. Yeah I see that long scratch too, I need a good buffer!!!

I used goo gone, I'm sure there are other things out there that work better. Like I said, I used what I had. With goo gone its a long process, spray it on a clean rag, rub over the glue, then I used spray wax to keep the truck clean during the process. (I have read where goo gone is bad for paint if it sits a long time). I simply used caution and made sure my paint stayed clean with spray wax. Here is some pics of the first cleaning (this takes several times of going over with goo gone and spray wax)

Eventually the ghosting will fade out and you will have a clean surface. I did the "M" first just for example purposes.

After all the glue is removed, You cant tell the badges where even there. I used a clay bar to clean the door just incase. Then I followed it up with a fresh coat of wax, and polish. Here is the final results.

Hope this helps someone. It look me about an hour and a half per side, 3 hrs total. Here are some before and after pics.

After

Yes I do, as a matter of fact my thumb still has skin coming off it, it's been atleast two weeks. Last time I wore off a set of finger prints like that I was in Vegas!

Thanks, I've been undecided since I did it. I'm leaning more towards the debadged look.

LOL...been there, done that!

Just an FYI...at most NAPA auto parts stores you can get an awesome product from 3M which is a spray on adhesive remover. It shortens your wait time and does a great job of softening the adhesive.

The really black stuff behind the letters??? Now that crap is HARD to get off!!!

I would say the 3M product would have been well worth the trip (looking back), I've read where its a great product, just was too lazy to go get it.

The Eraser Wheel is worth it's weight in gold, lol. I've done 3 trucks with it and it's still got plenty left. I debadged the whole truck on all 3 (spears, emblems and lettering) I used the fishing line, eraser wheel and a mild rubbing compound for ghosting, followed by a touch up waxing.
