Default Just raced a buddy's stock `09 w/ my `10

I have a 2010 4x4 Crew Sport with; 355's, home made intake, Predator 87 tune, 4,100mi. My buddy has an `09, same exact truck (355's, OEM dual exhaust too) but totally stock with 54,000mi. We both had traction control turned off, in haul mode, and air conditioners off. They ran identical all 3x. We went 0-120mph twice, then 30-120. I can't believe how identical they ran.

I am going to put the stock intake back on and run him again. Then put 93 octane in and 93 tune and see the diff. Initial reaction....pissed. I don't expect much from an 87 tune, but I thought I could at least pull him a length or so by the time we passed 60+. I hope it's just the homer made intake, or not being loosened up, or his timing is slightly advanced. His does fry the tires much easier as well. It must be that his is INFERNO red, and mine is just plain white.
Let me know your thoughts.

Question

Could be the way he drives his truck If he's on it all the time his truck would learn this pattern and perform differently than someone who drives easy. Just a thought !

CH, yep his is 4x4, Crew, 355's, 5.7ltr, full fuel. I saw his window sticker myself to verify the 355's. Hopefully mine will loosen up some too. He gets comparable mpg, but prob. does drive it harder in town than I do.

In my experience (previously had a 2008 Charger R/T), the Hemi livens up quite about 10,000KM or ~6000mi, that's probably all you're experiencing.

i think my 2010 is faster the 08 i had even had a k&n and superchips tunner but my 2010 has 11000 miles on it once it gets to 4000 rpms it comes to life but its not that aggressive from a take off bit i am getting a tunner so maybe it will help

I'm pretty sure the 87 tune actually lowers the trucks performance. The factory rig comes set up to use 89 (I think?) octane, so it makes sense your truck isn't quite as quick. Switch over to the 93 tune and you'll smoke him.

the truck is only recomended to run 92 octane. 87 is aceptable and runs just fine. There are many threads on here about fuel octane debateing which one is better.

Default Probably depends on Country/State... we don't have 92 here.

Mine has no octane requirement on it that I can find(Carolinas) and we have 87/89/93(and sometimes 100) octanes at our stations. I read somewhere that the stock HP/Tq ratings were based on 89oct as well... all just FYI.
