Default Weird revving

Noobie to the Ram site here:

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.9 L engine with about 92xxx miles... the truck runs well and none of the check engine light or sensors are tripped but when crusing down the road at any RPM level it will suddenly jump up 300 RPM and back down (ex 1800 to 2000) ? I called a repair place and they said to drive it a lil longer, since i just bought the truck, and see if it goes away. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Start by checking for stored codes. What speed is this happening at? It could be the converter going in and out of lockup.

I can barely notice it when im driving stop and go cause its never a constant pace... When i was driving about 65 it would do it so i tried to crank it up more 75 and it did it again...i even put it on cruise control...i woudl say about ever 15 -20 seconds it will do it...do i need to take it in to check for stored codes? The check engine light isnt on...

thanks

Take it to a local parts store and have them scan it. Most will do it at no charge.

Check out Discount Tire Direct's website. I just did a search and came up with 44 tires that size. See if you see anything you like!!

Not a single parts store will do it for free? For a few dollars more, you can buy your own scan tool that will pull P codes.

I took the truck to a shop and they pulled the codes with no stores codes...they even did a road test...nothing came up...not sure if it was a fluke or what??? The guy apparently reset my trucks learning memory to help adjust to my driving and reset the system...hopefully this will prove to fix the issue...any other ideas???
