Default How do you install 180 degree Thermostat

Hey Everyone!!

I know it may be a stupid question but I do not know how to install the 180 degree thermostat. I know the thermostat is at the rad outlet (if I am not mistaken haha). I just wanted to know how to do it. I have no instructions or anything. I can get y buddy to put it in but I would like to do it myself.

I got the Jet 180 deg just yesterday. I hope it makes a little difference to the way she drives.

Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!

LOL Randy had a much better answer than the one I was gonna give....

I was gonna say to wait until the truck was cool, crack the rad cap, then follow the outlet hose to the t-stat housing. It's then just a matter of unbolting the housing cover, popping out the old t-stat and inserting the new one. Then reversing the process, making sure to use a new gasket when reinstalling the housing cover..

just my opinion (never changed the t-stat on a Ram, but have done so on several other vehicles)

Exco

Yeah, an hour is a fair guesstimate for someone that hasn't done one before. BTW, you don't have to drain the cooling system completely, just let it drain until you get about a gallon oout of the radiator and you should be fine.

i did my tstat with the jet 180 and it makes allittle noticeable on the low end, tires seem to be chirpping more on fast pull outs. and since i put the tbody spacer and intake on, its like hell on wheels. like remer said its easy to do, follow his guidance.

This might sound dumb, but does the jet 180 t-stat only fit in a hemi or could i put one in my 4.7?
