DARN good post Chefred!!!!! Lotsa good info!!! (Saved to fav's)

My 09 is set up with both an electric and a 'clutch' fan,,, Wondering how a person would morph the 2 systems / go to full electric,,,,

I haven't looked, but I doubt the OEM electric has a shroud. Its on full time with the A/C as I understand, but evidently isn't 'enough' to cool the whole engine.

Hmmmm,,,,

the 3rd gen's also have a smaller efan for the ac (altho it has a mind of it's own and comes on whenever it feels like it..lol)... I'll have to take a peek of the 4th gen's to see if the fan's are setup any different..

Thanks for all the write up Chefred! Really let everyone know what they all do!

I am going to go with the Taurus myself. I think it will fit better than the Mark 8 and it also runs quicker as well. They both have the same CFM so it does not really make a diff I guess.

Thanks man!

So once you have a efan installed do you remove your stock fan and how? Where does the efan mount? Infront or behind the radiator? What do you wire the fan too?

yes.the fan comes off..by the big nut at the water pump. typically, the efan will mount inside the stock shroud or can be mounted by itself with a mount. (so behind the radiator).. you typically wire it to a fan controller.

here is my Mark VIII, the stock shroud was removed, i made a custom overflow bottle (abs pipe) and relocated the washer bottle, i have 2 controllers one for the low speed and one for the high speed, the high speed is set to came on about 15 degrees higher than the low but it never cames on, the low speed keeps up pretty good

THANKS for the pic!!!

The 3rd gen is set up quite a bit different than the 4ths in regards to rad, condenser coils, overflow and WW fluid,,,,

The condenser is 'stacked' in front of the rad, and the overflow/WW is 'in front of/off to the side(s) of the condenser coils,,,

Did it bolt right up or did you have to fab a way to mount it?
