Default 30k scheduled maintenance $1,000?

I was talking to the service manager today and asked what the service intervals looked like. He said that at 30k it would cost about $1,000
Tune up - 500
throttle body cleaning - 159
differential fluid for both would be like 300??

He mentioned I should probably be changing to differntial fluid every 15k.
Does this sound right to anyone? Anyone want to chime in? I'm sure a lot of people can do this themselves.. I doubt I am i one of them.

Sounds awful high to me, and is throttle body cleaning listed in your manual as recommended maintenance?

Sounds about right. All of this can be done in the driveway if you have the tools and a little know how.

Well, you don't have to worry about the plugs or throttle body, Paris. Just the diffs and transfer case. You should have mentioned it and I would have brought you the synthetic fluids for those. They're pretty pricey.

I just checked the owners manual for mine and at 30,000 Miles (50,000 kms) it says to change the oil and filter, rotate the tires, replace the air filter, replace the spark plugs and inspect the transfer case fluid. Soooooo the $1,000 seems extremely high, I know I can do that for alot less. It only says to inspect the transfer case fluid. At 36,000 miles it mentions changing the diff fliuds only for police, taxi, fleet, i.e. severe use.

T-case fluid is ATF+4 so it has a 100k lifespan. I change all my fluids every 30k just because I can do it for free.
