Default Plugs

I was wondering two things. First of all how often should you change your spark plugs. mine have 66000 miles on them. and do yall have a personal preference on a brand of plugs. Thanks

30,000 is the service interval and NGK's appear to be the favorite with most Hemi owners.

Remember, you need 16 plugs.

I think it's a fairly conservative service interval.

Yeah you would see an improvement in power and potentially mileage. Check those plugs and see what condition they are in.

While you change the plugs, check your throttle body. It may be a bit carboned up and cleaning those is always a good idea.

Awesome. Thank you. Also, my check engine light came on 2 days ago and i had it checked and it said the EGR valve needs to be replaced. What exactly is an EGR valve and would it be bad to be driving my truck while it is bad.

Im a noob when it comes to EFI.

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation

In internal combustion engines, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is a nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions reduction technique used in most gasoline and diesel engines.

EGR works by recirculating a portion of an engine's exhaust gas back to the engine cylinders. In a gasoline engine, this inert exhaust displaces the amount of combustible matter in the cylinder. This means the heat of combustion is less, and the combustion generates the same pressure against the piston at a lower temperature. In a diesel engine, the exhaust gas replaces some of the excess oxygen in the pre-combustion mixture.

The EGR code is caused when the carbon builds to a point where either the sensor can no longer read across the valve or the valve gets stuck due to excess carbon. It's a normal maintenance item.

I'd get it replaced as soon as you can. While it won't cause significant damage to the engine, it can have a detrimental affect on engine performance and mileage.

It's not hard to do, the parts are cheap and it will make that code go away.
