Default hope to find help with my Ram

Hi everyone as you see I am a Newbie.

What I am trying to find out is if and how to put a 5.9 2003-2006 cummins into my 2009 1500 Quad 4X4 .
I have the Hemi in it and I am not impressed. This is my 6th Ram and the last two have almost put me off Dodge .
I had 3 of the 5.9's in 2500 before and they were GREAT . I bought a new 2007 with the 6.7 motor and had nothing but trouble . I let the dealer talk me in to a 2009 Hemi . It has a lot of go but no power and the mileage is worse that the gulf oil spill.

What I would like to do is put a 5.9 into my 2009 hemi.
Question : Can it be done , will it work , and How do I go about it.

Hello and welcome to the forum, glad you joined us here! Have you considered maybe doing some mods to the HEMI first to see if that might not help? Unfortunately, I don't really have any advice for you on the engine swap, but plenty of knowledgeable folks on here who can help, so stay tuned! Lots of great people and info here, so any help you need, just ask and I hope you enjoy the board!

Hello and welcome to the forum! Glad to have you aboard! I would imagine it is possible since anything is haha. I am not really familiar with engine swaps so I am not that much help here. I am surprised to hear how you feel about the new Hemi motor. It is the quickest Hemi out there and the best MPGs. If you have been driving diesel trucks then you are used to the great MPGs haha. I am sure that another member will be able to answer your question.

Welcome you to the forum,
This forum is full of great looking trucks, and packed with great mod ideas and there are loads of knowledgeable and experienced people here.

I don't know if that kind of swap would prove to be cost effective. As the Ram 1500 is not available with a diesel, the challenges to get all the right electronics to work with it, might prove to be overwhelming. As ScatPak07 indicated, anything is possible.....but I'm not convinced this is a great idea, unless you are building a 'Project' truck. If it is to be a work truck......big project...expensive project....a lot of variables to consider...like the rest of the drive train that is definitely NOT designed for that kind of torque.

AND - We all like pix! Got any to share ?

Enjoy the Z!

hello and welcome.
what i have done in the past when i wanted to swap from gas to a dsl is i whent and bought a totaled one that the frame was ok or could be straitened out and then swapped cabs and boxes then went to work on all the electronics. i have went from 1500 chev gas to a ram 3500 dsl ... lol yea i put all dodge running gear into a chev.
but its a long process to get it all done. and done right. its taken me on some like the chev to dodge 8month's.
but to go from dodge gas to to a dodge dsl youd be looking at
1. engene
2.trans
3. all new wiring under the hood, and most likely inside to a point to get the brain box working right.
4. new engine mounts will be different may have to fab some for that, not sure / trans mounts the same.
5. drive shaft will ea-there be to long or too short.
6. probably more then what i have mentioned.
