Default coolant and oil mixing

im pretty sure the oil and coolant is mixing in my old truck seeing how when i pulled the intake the gaskets were shot is this a pretty common issue or am i looking at the more expensive route of having to pull the heads. the truck seems to have good compression and there hasent been any coolant or smoke comeing from the tailpipes.

Going to be hard to say for sure since you didn't actually run a compression, leakdown or CO2 test. You can pull the plugs and see if they're wet and make a decision from there.

Why do you think you have water and oil mixing ? Hows the oil look ? Does it look like a choclate milkshake ?

actually plugs were all dry and looked normal no oil or any residue as far as the oil and coolant mixing definitely seen it coming out when i drained the oil and along with that i noticed alot of the coolant wasent coolant it was water and coolant and i believe a lot of it was boiling off so i need to look into that. the intake gaskets were pretty much rotted out so with the new ones i think that issue will go away along with coolant.

If your just gonna reseal the intake , make sure you do the belly pan gasket on the bottom side of the intake . Their notorious for going bad and sucking oil out of the motor .

If the oil and coolant weren't mixed the the water/coolant you drained was probably from when you pulled the intake. When you say boiling off, where do you think it was going?

i did replace the gasket on the underside of the plenum it was pretty csked in oil along with the pcv hose and valve. as far as the water coolant issue i was told it was boiling off because there was too much water in the system causing it to overheat and boil it away. and i also noticed today that there was some water in the transmission pan sorry for all of the questions just wanting to clarify what is causing the symptoms.
