Default non droning exhaust

Got a 07 4x2 QC 5.7 and I want a little more noise when I'm nailing it without any annoying highway drone. Not worried about dual exhaust as I'm either just going to the store or actually hauling something. Not sure if I'm going to go full catback or just muffler and get some cheaper headers I'm thinking for the price that might be the better route. I don't want to spend too much as in another 1.5-2 years I might find a deal on an 09. Thoughts recommendations?

If you want cheap. I recommend you buy what you want and either have a buddy weld it or call your local muffler shops for labor prices

Not too many 'cheap' kits that will eliminate the MDS drone. If you get a tuner, you can disable it but then you have to deal with the mileage issue. Kits like Corsa, Borla, and Gibsons usually take the MDS into account and give you a nice mellow tone... but you do ahve to pay a bit more for it. I love my Borla, nice aggressive sound when you put your foot into it, but a nice tone when just cruising... unless you ask my gf

hey anybody know if there are negitive long term effects by using a tuner to turn off mds.and does the exhaust note with a tuner sound like when you put it in o/d off, towhaul mode or is it more aggressive.cause to me it sounds quieter in towhaul,o/d off mode.oh my set up is 3" straight pipe welded at the y to s/i,d/o flowmaster super 44 2.5" out to 4" ss tips behind rear wells.the mds drone is sickening one second deep aggressive rumble, next second it starts farting.
