Question Drone.....3 days and I hate it...help?!?

I know there are some post about the horrific DRONE,,, but i have read what i could find and now have a few questions to those of you that may be able to answer.

I have had my flowmaster 40's for 3 i think days,,, some speeds are ok,,, but slow in traffic or mid speeds regular roads, basically 60-110, and more are horrible. Now not only to i get the gasping for air maybe it's broken sounds but certain speeds will shudder my truck, that i know is the vibration of the irratic exhaust but none the less it doesent sound good to me at all performance or mechanically. it shifts back and forth alot during normal flat roads anywhere unless your on the pedal,, I have wasted at least 100km a tank on playing with the pedal or runing with O/D off to stop it from kicking in,.

My questions begin with,,, is it harmful to my truck to run it like this will the irratic exhaust create any issues or is it just plainly the retard sound of the MDS technologly that would be muffled by say a resonator,, lol. Second off base, if i was to get a programmer would this have a direct effect on my 100,000km powertrain warranty in anyway and if it did or not how easy are programmers to figure? I am skillful but when it comes to the brains of my baby I don't want to just go in blazing and crash my turck. Should I have a pro set it up? I would like a setting for casual day-2-day (contractor) and out-on-weekend a little boost of sunshine for the cottage or whatever.

Will the drone get worse or better with the arrival of my K&N intake it is the 63 series?

I know some of this was a lil off topic of exhausts for a minute but this drone not only for me to enjoy the hemi sound but for me to feel like my truck isnt broken,,,, Thanks again

I see that you have two options.

Put some resonators on.

Get a Predator and turn off MDS.

The drone will probably get worse with the addition of a CAI.

It's not harmful to the truck but it sounds horrible.

A programmer will void a warranty, however, the DiabloSport Predator is easily installed and removed when you need to take the truck to the dealer for warranty work or service. And it doesn't leave an electronic "ghost" imprint on the PCM.

You can set it up and if you have a question or a problem, we are here to help as is the DiabloSport customer service department and tech line. They are great to deal with.

There's an extensive Predator help library here in the Knowledge Base. If you get a Predator, go download the MSWord documents there and read through them.

Make sure you check with our vendors who sell The Predator , like BMC . They did have them on sale and were priced very competitive .

I'm with maddog, re-installing one of the stock resonators will help with the drone OR, he predator to diable the MDS system. I know that the flowmasters sounds awesome without the MDS, so disabling it will definately help to get rid of the drone, but will play merry havoc with the MPGs. You might also look at swapping out to an MDS-friendly exhaust like the Corsa or Borla which comes with a high-flow resonator and it doesn't matter whether you're in MDS or not.

how is your total exhaust exiting your truck? through piping to the rear? tell me exactly how it exits after the muffler.

And you can run it in Tow/Haul or O/D off mode and not get the Predator.

if you want to eliminate the drone, dump the exhaust AFTER the axle... guys who have done this are amazed that this works without changing anything else with their 'droning' exhaust setup...

That means the tow/haul will be lit on the dash.
