Default Trailer Hitch question

I did a search, so if this has been asked before, please forgive me.

When I purchased my truck,(1500 quad cab) it only came with the towing "prep" package. I have the 4 & 7 pin connectors molded into the truck, and it looks like the hitch is complete up under the frame, as if I wanted to install a ball directly onto the bumper. However there is no actual female reciever coming out the rear of the truck.

In doing some reading this morning, If I am correct, there is another piece that needs to be installed if I want to put on a drop hitch.

Is anyone familiar with these? I did look around, and am waiting on calling the dealer ( not open yet) but I think I came across one on ebay. Its not OEM, so I was wondering about difficulty of installation, and if the ratings were comprable to what the dealer would put on.

As always, Thank you for any help
Regards

They aren't bad to install but I see the one you've linked to doesn't seem to include the mounting hardware, plastic cap or pull wire for the bolts, which is a MUST HAVE for installation. I'd make sure it come with all of the above before spending any money.

The plastic cap covers the bolt that will run through the hole in the bumper. The pull wire is made to thread around the bolts that must be installed through the inside of the hitch.

The product you linked too looks as if it is only the reciever, which would need to be attached to a crossmember that spans the frame rails. Is that cross member already installed? Here is a photo of what I know as a full class III\IV receiver.

Yea, it looks like the cross member is already up under the truck. I actually have found a Youtube video on the install, now I am researching the load capasity of the aftermarket ones vs the OEM. The dealer wants $145 for the part, however I am finding them on ebay for around the $90 range.
They do come with the "pull wire" but no plastic cap. There is a cap in my bumper now, but the way the video of the install looks, the new 3/4 nut does not sit flush after install so I think I need a different cap.

Thanks for all the help so far
Regards

No, it doesn't sit flush. I believe the OEM should be class IV.

Class III hitch is rate up to 5,000 lbs and 500 lbs tongue while a class IV is rated up to 12,000 lbs and 1,200 lbs tongue. The max rating may vary a bit depending on the manufacture. I know my '10 came with a class IV but I don't know about the '09.
