Default Battery Lead to Alarm Problems

I have a 98 Dodge Ram 1500. It had died and would not crank over. I tried jumping it this morning, but was in a hurry and got it to click but didn't stay out long enough for it to actually crank. I went back out later, when I had more time, and once again tried to jump it. This time, once the cables were connected the alarm started going off. I wasn't even aware it had an alarm, so this was a surprise for me! Now I can't even leave the battery connected without the alarm going off. When the alarm is going off it won't start. Any help would be appreciated as I now have a dead truck with an alarm I didn't even know I had going off. I also don't have a keyless entry system so the panic button isn't even an option to turn it off.
