5w-20 is definetly required for MDS to operate properly. I can't believe a dealer wouldn't already know this. Something just doesn't sound right. But if the dealership says 10w-30 is required in this area, then I wouldnt be to confident in their ability for service. Granted the "desk" person you talked to is in no way a good judgement for the ability of the mechanic. I wouldn't wait for a reply from anyone, I would change it out yourself. Pennzoil Platinum, 7 qts, can be picked up at your local Walmart for under $30 and a mobile 1 filter will run you another $12.

It doesn't make sense to me. They should just change the oil and filter at no charge and use the correct oil this time and this mess goes away for them. Holt, if they continue to give you grief, you can always write a letter to the BBB, the Bristol herald Courier, and maybe even take out a classified ad and put it in the automobile section. Let them know that Chrysler service information CLEARLY states that 5w-20 is to be used and that is what you were led to belive you were getting.

Default follow up so far

Appreciate the input and concern Guys.I recieved both a call and voicemail from a Dodge Customer rep today, but due to work i was unable to answer and had difficulty trying to return contact. The message did say that the Friendship Service Mgr wants me to bring the truck back and they'll do it again and provide proof that all is done correct. But The service mgr also told the rep that the sticker was just a "clerical error" and the oil change was with correct oil.I've got yet to catch the rep and speak to them in person and when i do,i want their reaction to the friendship service writer saying "That 10w30 was the correct oil for this area"So the saga continues as my long hours and work times this week is making resolve a lil more difficult. I'm tempted ifi ever need any serious service work.My truck is going to Randy!

Wow man that is total BS and that guys responses are horrible. I would have driven down there and punched the guy straight in the head for being such a jackass.

You should print out the email that the guy sent you saying the 10-30w is the oil for the area. You should really fight it and make it know so in case something happens you can blame them and they will hve to fix it for you.

I was thinking it could have been a clerical error on your sticker. I take my truck to the dealership for oil changes and the dates/mileages are printed out, not written in. At least they offered to do another oil change, but Randy has a good point, too, in filing a complaint with the BBB, but getting the press involved, be it local newspaper or whatnot, nobody likes it when those guys show up, lol! Are you going to let them do the oil change again (hopefully after all this, they'll let you stand there and watch!)?

matter of fac cajun, they're telling the rep that it was a clerical and yes the service mgr has offered to do my oil change again. This has been one long workweek(12hr days including this sat -then starting nights next week.) But the one thing i cannot overlook is the service writers comment about the "oil used for this area"At the least,he should've said hed talk with the mechanic and maybe even offer my speaking to him to assure it was only a clerical.I'mwaiting to catch up with them this week AND the dodge rep and tell them that to assure thats the issue,i'lltake a sampleof the oil from my truck and have it tested to "help mefeel more comfortable" whew...just got in and gotta hit the clock again at 7 tomorrow.Later

hey man, i have a problem right now with my '10 ram 5.7L. Seems to be stuck in 4 cylinders most of the time, like the mds is malfunctioning, until the oil warms up to above 180. im not sure if it is because the wrong oil is in it because i have no documentation on what the dealer put in this truck before i bought it, but its with the dealer now and they're trying to figure it out. they dont seem to think its caused by wrong oil, but we'll see and i'll let you know. not sure yet on whether it will cause any damage long term, but we'll see. if you havent had any problems along those lines, than i think it'll be okay.
