Default Airaid CAI, 2.5 mpg better

Just installed an Airaid CAI, part #300-237. Didn't realize how loud that thing would howl during wide open throttle. According to the instrument panel, I am already getting at least 2.5 mpg better than before. Low end power also improved.

Definitely worth the $350, and I highly recommend this to anyone who is thinking about getting one.

Wow man, 2.5mpg is pretty impressive...especially with gas prices right now. I was looking at the cheaper Spectre kit, but maybe the AirRaid is the way to go after all...

I really don't have any idea who makes the best, I think it's really just personal preference maybe. Any aftermarket CAI has to be better than the factory intake though. I remember someone installing a Spectre, and he like it. Came with a shiny intake tube too.

I like my AirAid as well, though I'm impressed with the 2.5mpg boost. Is that by the computer or hand calculated?

That is according to the computer. I checked the computer on a particular section on the highway, before and after the CAI. And it was showing 2 - 2.5 mpg better.

Once I get my Predator to start working on the truck, I'll calibrate for the correct size tires, and then I'll hand calculate actual MPG.

I hope the actual MPG is still that good.

Keep an eye on it.

Don't mean to sound 'negative', but if a CAI would make a truck get 2.5 MPG better, every MFG would have them as original equipment.

Lotsa factors involved here. Do several tests over time.

I hope your gains stay consistent.

I'd also recommend you look at this over the long term. And, don't go by the truck 'puter measurements. They are adaptive and change from time to time depending on how you are driving at the time. Do it the old fashioned way...miles divided by gallons consumed.

I agree. However, I can't get any real numbers until I get an update for my Predator so I can recalibrate for my bigger tires. Once that happens, I'll repost some "real" numbers.

Also, after 9,500 miles, my factory air filter was ridiculously dirty. Lots of Arizona dust in that filter. That may have something to do with it.
