Default Play in steering

Hey guys, I'm sure someone else has had this issue but I seem to have a lot of play in the steering wheel driving down the road. All joints and rod ends are new. Would it be the steering box itself? I have had a few tell me to adjust the sector shaft screw but not sure if I should. Any help will be appriciated..... oh and it's a 01 2500 4x4 of that matters....

It could be an over center adjustment in the gearbox. When you say all joints and rods, does that include the track bar?

Yea the track bar is less than a year old. We have looked at all the components in the front and see no play or excessive movement...

The steering shaft? From the steering wheel to the steering box? No I haven't checked that

Check that as well, it's common for them to wear out over the years and get sloppy.

Most of the time with the older trucks there is flexing or deflection that happens at the steering box mounting point on the frame.
There is a steering box stabilizer bracket thats mounts to the 4 bolt holes that the swaybar mounts to, that remidies the problem as well.
LMC, Jegs, BD Diesel Performance, and a few other places all sell them.

I have the steering box stabilizer on my Ram and it cured the play.
