Default Upgrading stock SLT radio to stock Laramie one

Hi, so my buddy bought a new Laramie that had the stock touchscreen radio. He paid the dealer to upgrade to GPS and they gave him his stock one back.

How much work would it be to fit this to my SLT? I guess I would have to take it to the dealer to get the truck to recognize it? Could I also then upgrade to a rear view camera too?

Thanks in advance

Charlie

Im guessing you are wanting to upgrade from a REQ or RES to the REN. The RER is the GPS version. Is your buddies truck, the same year as yours? Do you have factory satellite radio, Uconnect, Ipod harness installed? Do you plan on installing factory satellite radio, Uconnect, Ipod harness installed?

The MOPAReSTORE has been my best friend when it comes in finding the accessories that I want.

if you want the park view camera, then you should buy the camera with the tailgate handle that it goes in, before you pull your current radio out, then when you have everything together, do it all in the same day or weekend. No sense pulling the dash apart twice.

If you want to also get the satellite radio, get a plan that that is multi year or lifetime. the more years that you have in the plan, the cheaper it is

if you truck has the floor console, its just a bit more work than if you don't, from what i saw its just finding the screws that have to come out to remove the trim pieces that takes the most time. someone posted a thread in here that has a diagram & maybe pix

Thanks for the info guys. Both trucks are 2010. I have uconnect, Sirius and the iPod adaptor in the glove box. I didn't realize it would require ripping the dash apart. Not sure if I want to do that on my brand new truck just yet lol. Nor do I, realistically, have the knowledge to do it.

I guess I need to do some more research. When I mentioned it to my sales guy he said something about the radios being coded to the truck so I couldn't swap them.

I am going to get the radio tomorrow, perhaps once I have it I can ask more specific questions.

Thanks guys

Very simple swap if you have the console shifter its a little more involved and no the radios are not coded...

Ok, gonna try that tonight. From what I have read its not going to be simple as all my music is on my Mac in iTunes. We shall see.

I am heading down to Disney in LA On Friday night, so need lots of tunes to keep the family happy

yeah, this is really easy, and it usually doesn't take that long. It even adds a playlist "USB_Playlist_1" etc for each upload via usb so you can keep track of what was uploaded when.
