Angry Biker RANT

Ok, let me start off I've been a biker since my teens, had several rice burners and several Harleys.

Today however, a chick on the HD REALLY PO'd me.

I was heading east on the I-84 and had pass this girl cleanly. She was two lanes to my right as well. There was a car in the lane to my right. I needed to get in the lane where the biker was but was planning far enough ahead that I had plenty of time.

The car to my right slowed down and pulled into the lane behind where the biker had been. So I turned on the turn signal and checked the lane before moving, both through the side windows and the fish-eye.

I'm glad I did because the biker was barely there on my right. I couldn't tell exactly which lane she was in, but I was pretty sure she was right where she shouldn't be.

I tried speeding up, she hung with me. There wasn't room ahead of me to really "speed up" so I tried slowing down, but again there was traffic behind me and hung right there.

Finally I had slowed enough that she finally went by.

If I've said it once, I've said it a 1000 times. Bikers need to learn how to drive defensively and not think they are seen or heard.

I had my turn signal on the whole time and even started to change lanes a little (just enough to let her know my intentions, no way was I going to use the "I'm bigger than you are thing").

Ok, rant off.

I ride my bikes all the time but driving should always be defensive. There are those rare occasions when you have to floor it to get where you need to be, but in Smith Stytem traing it is called Key 5 = Make Sure They See You. If you have never had a good defensive driving course, Smith System is a great one. Principles of Space Cushion Driving. The Harley Girl could have also been a novice rider and not aware that she needs to be seen. Glad ROAD RAGE didn't set in.
