Default CAI question

Hey Im looking into buying a Volant CAI for my 03 hemi and I was searching on ebay and found this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-0...item563dde1b29

Just wanted you guys to look at it to make sure its legit before i buy it. the reason I ask is because there another one that is more expensive but which lists as the same part number.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Volan...item20ac77a9e3

Any idea the difference? Any help is much appreciated.

On the first one, there is a shipping charge, on the second there is not. Aside from that, the only other difference is the feedback ratings. The second sale (more expensive one) has a better feedback than the seller in the first. Ultimately, your getting the same part still.

Well, I run a K&N in my truck, but most CAI's do the same thing. With the volant, there is an option to put a ram air tube on that box and supposedly it will out perform the others. I'd shoot for the volant, can't beat that price unless you build one yourself.

On the first one that is the old model with the black top, the second link is the latest model. I just bought one from E-Bay and got the second one for less than $300. Here is a link to where I got mine and it was shipped lightning fast and I had it in 2 days. Looking at the link he still has 2 available. LINK

Here is mine before and after install.

I would expect the second one to come with the upgraded PowerCore filter for that price! I'd call Volant and see if you can add the PowerCore as a drop-in replacement with this kit. It's warrantied for 100k miles and you really don't need to even clean it. It has to do with how the filter 'loads' up. It's a very innovative design. When I compared the price over 100k miles to buying drop-in paper filters (which probably filter just as well as long as you stay on top of them), it was about a wash. Something you might consider.

I think that the more expensive one is the newer model with the better filter like the other guys are saying. They pretty much are exactly the same, just the better filter in the other one.

Really all the CAI are pretty much the same. There are members on here that have made their own CAIs and have noticed a difference. If you want to go with a pretty cheap CAI that works very very well, take a look at S&B. I have one in my truck and the thing works great! It also claims the most power out of the box style filters. Thats what they say! haha

Definitely consider the Volant. I've had three Volant systems on different rigs and they work great!

there has got to be a way to delete the hemi hat (air resonator)...doesn't volant offer a tube with a smooth elbow to the throttle body?

I am REALLY sorry if this is stupid question of the month but does a CAI make a noise. My brother in law did something to his air system on his F150 and now when he hits the gas there is a 'sucking' noise.
