Default Removing tail lights

how do we remove our tail lights? i know there are the two torx screws but then what next? it seems you have to pull outwards perpendicular to the length of the truck but im not sure.

Sounds right. If there are only two screws, and they are out, the tails should come straight out towards the back.

hmmm...mine slip right out after I remove the screws on the side.

Have you tried pulling out from the bottom first and tip them out?

With it being new and freshly assembled , sometimes they just need a little persuasion .

I've got to remove the L/R tail light on my '01 tomorrow . I'll pay attention to any tricks I need to do . It can't be much different .

Mine was difficult to remove the first time as well when I was installing my backup alarm, but Tom's right, just needs a little persuasion, but it should pull straight out.

Persuasion. If necessary find a thinnish piece of plastic and pry the tail light housing back to pop the retainers loose. I used one of those putty knife looking things you use to wipe wallpaper flat. I imagine a plastic spatula, etc will work too. The plastic pry bar won't scratch your paint and the retainer will pop loose before anything breaks.
