Default 2010 Ram SLT head unit swap

Hi all,

New to the forum and just received my 2010 Ram 1500 SLT and so far Im in love...Best truck/vehicle I have ever had the pleasure of driving. So far I have added step bars and a A.R.E. Tonneau cover. For my next upgrade I would like to swap out the stock base head unit(cd player with Serius Satellite Radio) for the unit with the touch screen and navigation/dvd unit.

I am curious what is the name of that specific head unit is and if anyone has done this mod

Thanks everyone!

You could upgrade to the MyGig (maybe they call it something else ow) which includes the 30GB HD, NAV, UConnect, etc...

I think they call it the "Media Center" head unit now.

How about a pic of your dash to see what you have.

Check out the MOPAReStore for getting part numbers for the accessories you want to order.

The touchscreen navigation MYGIG is the RER. It's worth the money if you have it. I just upgraded my 2007 to the MYGIG RER. You can find the radios on ebay but I think for your truck you will have to make a trip to the dealership to have the features turned on.

This is exactly what I am doing. My buddy gave me his REQ so I am looking to replace the standard head unit in mine. I was toying with the idea of adding the rear view camera too but I think it's beyond my skill level and my dealership quoted me a grand to do the work so that's not gonna happen for a while. I need to do some research on how to swap the head unit myself.

Is someone able to point me in the right direction on where to find instructions on how to get the head unit out of a 2010 1500?

I spoke to the parts guys at my dealership and they want $50 just to pull it and look and then if it is compatible another $100 to install and flash the chip.

THe new head I want to install says RBZ(Not REQ as I originally thought). I cant seem to find that one???

I know they will have to flash it anyway, (and charge of course) but if I can get it in and out myself I can save a few bucks

I believe the RBZ replaces the REQ.

A good set of plastic trim tools will remove any worries you may have about damaging panels. And you must take it slow...don't get in a hurry.

It helps to have the exploded view drawing or service manual handy when doing this...well, when doing most anything, really.
